New Sessions, New Steps

October 7, 2025

At The Basement Project, we know that young people come to us at a crisis point. Many are navigating homelessness, family breakdown, mental health challenges, and domestic abuse—often facing several complex issues at once. These challenges can impact confidence and make it harder to engage with education or work.

Moving towards independence is difficult for any young person, and even more so for those dealing with multiple difficulties. That’s why our Application Station is starting at the very beginning. Every Tuesday, Coordinators Anna and Elisha are running a range of supportive sessions designed to provide the stepping stones toward work readiness.

The sessions aim to help young people get out of the house, build a routine, and develop confidence. We understand that anxiety can make this difficult, so the sessions are friendly, supportive, and paced to help participants gradually build skills for the workplace.

Each week brings a different activity:

  • Walk and Talk: Our first session has already been a positive start, with several young people joining for a walk around Sander’s Park and a chance to chat about whatever is on their mind.
  • Coffee and Questions: Pop into Hanover House for a relaxed chat over a cup of tea or coffee. This session is an opportunity for young people to ask questions, and for us to find out what support they need—helping us shape services around them.
  • Craft and Calm: Anxiety and confidence can be barriers to moving forward, so this session combines mindful craft activities with calming breathing exercises in a relaxed setting.
  • Values and Strengths: This session helps young people identify their values and strengths, and learn how to describe their unique abilities—a key skill for landing that dream job. Even if young people struggle to recognise their strengths, these sessions help unlock their potential.

These sessions take place every Tuesday from 10am to 12pm at Hanover House, 1 Hanover Street, Bromsgrove, B61 7JH. Group sizes are small to ensure individual support. To find out more or book a place, call or WhatsApp Anna and Elisha on 07402 166391.
