To mark National Apprenticeship Week (10th–16th February 2025), our Application Station team, Elisha and Anna, organised a fantastic workshop to help young people prepare for the world of work.
With the generous support of Bayley’s of Bromsgrove, who provided the meeting space, and Breedon Consulting, the session was a great success. Helen, an experienced HR consultant from Breedon Consulting, kindly volunteered her time to offer one-to-one guidance. Each young person had the opportunity to ask Helen questions, learn about employer expectations, and develop their interview skills.
After their chats with Helen, attendees worked with Anna from our Application Station to apply for apprenticeships. One young person, who had an interview that week, found the session particularly helpful. Although he wasn’t successful on that occasion, the support he received has helped him to grow in confidence—and we’re delighted to share that he has since secured employment!
Beyond employability skills, the Application Station team have also been supporting young people with essential life skills. Clients have been improving their cooking skills, learning how to use a washing machine, and even mastering the art of ironing—an important step in preparing for job interviews!
If you know a young person who could benefit from a chat with Anna or Elisha, get in touch at applicationstation@basementproject.org.uk. We’d love to help!
