Our work with young people needs to be responsive to their needs — and now, more than ever, those needs are shifting.
We are seeing a growing number of young people facing barriers such as increased anxiety, low confidence and difficulty engaging with social situations — many of which are lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The success of our floating support service — which offers tailored support to young people in their homes or out in the community — shows us clearly that flexibility and outreach are key. At the heart of everything we do is a strong belief: our services should be shaped by young people themselves.
This month, our support workers have taken that commitment a step further and have been researching where young people most need our support across the district. Our team are exploring how we can bring our drop-in services to young people — in places they feel comfortable, and are easy to access.
This means changes are on the horizon as our traditional drop-in at Hanover House is likely to evolve. We’ll keep you updated in the coming months, so watch this space.
Change is coming — and it’s driven by young people, for young people.
