Here at The Basement Project, we are incredibly fortunate to have some fantastic fundraisers who support our services.
There is a particular superstar that we must mention, Rose Gunstensen, who has been fundraising and collecting for our food bank for over seven years! Rose’s’ family own Bromsgrove Field Hire, where dog owners from the community can book slots to walk their pets in a secure and safe environment. During this time, Rose went the extra mile and purchased dog treats with her own money and placed them alongside an ‘honesty box’ in the field. Her generosity didn’t stop here, as she then decided to donate the money raised from this box to The Basement Project.
When she started fundraising for us back in 2019, we had a visit from the Duke of Kent who awarded Rose a certificate for all her incredible work that she was doing for us then. But she didn’t stop there – she continued to fundraise for us over the next seven years during her time at school.
Over this time, her ‘honesty box’ grew into a ‘honesty shop’! Here, she collected numerous food parcels for our food bank, along with buying toiletries for our clients out her own money to make up care packages for the young people that we support. Since then, Rose has completed her Duke of Edinburgh Award where she chose to support The Basement Project in her service section, which we are super proud of her for!
By fundraising for us, she has created a huge amount of word-of-mouth activity for The Basement Project which has supported us with various other activities within the community, in making connections with other organisations and individuals. We have had several businesses come to us offering support, all because they learned about The Basement while walking their dogs in Rose’s field.
We recognised Rose’s fundraising back in 2019 and since then she has gone from strength to strength, with the Bromsgrove Field Hire featuring on our Wall of Fame, which highlights the fantastic businesses that go above and beyond for us in the local area. In the past seven years, our superstar Rose has donated over £1900 for The Basement Project – an absolutely amazing achievement! This money has supported us to fund services for our young people, including guidance to navigate the housing system, mediation and conflict resolution, support to access to employment and advocacy to prevent eviction.
We feel incredibly grateful to Rose for all that she has done within our community and it has been a pleasure to see her flourish over the past seven years. Thank you so much Rose, you are a fantastic young lady, and we appreciate you and all the hard work that you have done for The Basement Project! We wish you all the very best for the future.
